Our client is a highly respected, growth-focused multi-modal logistics provider. As the organization continues to scale, they are seeking a Director, Risk, Safety & Quality to lead and elevate their enterprise-wide safety, compliance, and risk management framework.
This is a critical executive leadership role responsible for safeguarding the organization’s operations across over-the-road, ocean, air, and rail freight. It is ideally suited for a seasoned leader who brings both regulatory depth and practical operational judgment, and who can embed a proactive, performance-driven safety and quality culture across a fast-moving logistics workplace.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic and hands-on leadership across safety, risk management, regulatory compliance, and quality assurance function
- Design and implement scalable safety programs, compliance frameworks, and quality control processes aligned with company growth
- Oversee transportation regulatory compliance across North American and international operations (including DOT, FMCSA, and global freight standards
- Lead cargo claims management, loss prevention strategies, and incident investigation processes, including root cause analysis and corrective action
- Develop and enforce carrier vetting, onboarding, and audit protocols to ensure alignment with safety and performance standards
- Partner with insurance providers, legal counsel, and executive leadership to manage risk exposure and optimize insurance strategies
- Establish KPIs and reporting mechanisms to monitor safety performance, compliance adherence, and quality outcome
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives that enhance operational integrity while supporting commercial objectives
- Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing safety, risk, and compliance team across the organization
The Ideal Candidate
- 10+ years of progressive experience in transportation safety, risk management, compliance, or quality within logistics, 3PL, or freight forwarding workplace
- Minimum 5 years in a leadership capacity overseeing safety, compliance, or corporate risk functions
- Deep knowledge of transportation regulations across multiple modes, including DOT, FMCSA, and international freight compliance requirements
- Strong expertise in claims management, carrier compliance, insurance coordination, and enterprise risk mitigation
- Demonstrated ability to build and scale safety and compliance programs in a growth-oriented organization
- Practical, solutions-oriented mindset with strong root-cause analysis and problem-solving capabilities
- Executive presence with the ability to influence across operations, legal, finance, and commercial teams
