Description

SMS Equipment is currently recruiting Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Technicians to join our growing Timmins branch. In this role, you will apply your technical expertise to inspect, troubleshoot, and maintain off‑road heavy equipment, helping ensure safe and reliable operations for our customers.

Base Wage : $55.84 per hour + premiums* Location : Timmins ON

We offer flexible work schedules to support a variety of lifestyles:

- 7x7 (Local): 7 days on / 7 days off (12‑hour shifts, compressed work week premium eligible)
- 14x14 (Remote): 14 days on / 14 days off (12‑hour shifts, includes travel, accommodations, and premiums)

Premiums may bring total compensation to approximately $64.61 per hour depending on schedule. Additional assignment‑based allowances may apply.

What You’ll Do

- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and electronic systems on heavy equipment
- Perform preventative maintenance, component overhauls, and current equipment builds
- Use both digital diagnostic tools and hands‑on troubleshooting techniques
- Work independently or collaboratively in field and shop environments




- Follow established safety procedures and actively contribute to a culture of safety
- Maintain accurate service records and documentation
- Adapt to a variety of working conditions, including remote sites and changing environments

What You Bring

You are a certified Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Technician who takes pride in your work and is committed to safe, high‑quality outcomes. You bring strong problem‑solving skills and enjoy diagnosing and resolving complex equipment issues. You’re comfortable working both independently and as part of a team, and you adapt well to different environments, including field‑based settings.

- Experience maintaining and repairing heavy equipment
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license and willingness to travel as required
- The ability to use a variety of diagnostic tools and approaches to troubleshoot issues
