With approximately 30+ professionals, we offer the technical depth of a larger firm with the flexibility and close collaboration of a regional office.Position OverviewEXP is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer (P.Eng.) to lead the design, analysis, and delivery of mechanical systems for industrial and municipal infrastructure projects. This role is ideal for an experienced engineer who excels in technical leadership, system design, mentoring, and client engagement.Key ResponsibilitiesLead mechanical system design for projects, including:HVAC systemsPiping and fluid systemsIndustrial machinery and equipmentPerform and approve complex engineering calculations, including:Heating and cooling loadsFluid dynamics and pressure lossesThermodynamics and energy analysisEnsure designs comply with ASME, CSA, NFPA, and applicable local building and mechanical codesPrepare and review technical documentation, including:SpecificationsDesign briefs and reportsRisk assessmentsSequences of operationDevelop scope of work and basis of design, maintaining accuracy through all project phasesCoordinate with multidisciplinary teams (MEP/FP, Architectural, Civil, Structural)Manage vendor and supplier interactions, reviewing technical submissions and equipment selectionsReview, approve,
and stamp drawings and specifications; perform QA/QC reviewsMentor and provide technical leadership to junior engineers and technologistsManage project scopes, budgets, schedules, and deliverables using sound risk management practicesRespond to RFIs, review submittals, and troubleshoot issues during design and constructionOversee installation, commissioning, and field investigations, providing on-site technical guidanceApply advanced mechanical engineering concepts, including:PsychrometricsHydronic and air-side system designEnergy efficiency and performance principlesCommunicate effectively with clients and stakeholders to define requirements and meet project milestonesQualifications & ExperienceBachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering (mandatory)Licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Ontario or eligible for licensure within a short timeframeDemonstrated experience in mechanical engineering design for industrial and/or municipal infrastructure projectsStrong proficiency with mechanical design software, including:AutoCAD (mandatory)Revit, SolidWorks, and simulation/FEA tools (assets)MS Office (Word, Excel) and MS Project for project managementExperience in preliminary and detailed design for heavy industrial and municipal systemsIn-depth knowledge of engineering codes and standards:ASMECSANFPALocal building and mechanical codesStrong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to perform advanced engineering calculationsProven leadership and mentoring ability, including multidisciplinary coordinationExperience managing project scopes, budgets, schedules,
