Assistant Vice President of Business Development Job Description My client is a fast-growing software company transforming how risk is managed across the construction industry. Our cloud-based platform helps general contractors and subcontractors work smarter, safer, and more efficiently. As we continue to scale globally, we’re looking for driven, relationship-focused professionals to join our front-line team. This role will require you to report to our downtown Toronto office 4-5 days per week with some flexibility to work from home. About the Role As an AVP of Business Development, you will be responsible for driving revenue growth through people. You’ll lead a small team of Business Development Associates, providing coaching, structure, and strategic direction while remaining closely connected to our clients and market. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys developing talent, setting clear expectations, and creating a high-performance, inclusive team culture—while still being deeply connected to sales outcomes. What you’ll do Build and maintain senior-level relationships with key clients and industry partners Develop and execute business development strategies that increase adoption, retention, and long-term client value Partner with team members on complex negotiations, payment terms, and high-value client conversations Confidently communicate the value of the product suite to subcontractors and key stakeholders Lead, coach,
and mentor a team to achieve individual and team revenue goals Lead by example, demonstrating strong client engagement and sales Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and networking Collaborate cross-functionally with Marketing, Product, and Customer Success teams to drive client adoption Share insights from your team and clients to help shape product enhancements and go-to-market strategies Qualifications 5+ years of experience in sales, account management, or customer-facing roles Prior experience leading, coaching, or mentoring others (formal people management experience is an asset) A proactive, entrepreneurial mindset with a desire to change the status quo Strong phone, video, and written communication skills with a professional, client-first approach Prior client-facing experience in construction OR SaaS is required Tech-savvy, adaptable, and comfortable learning and explaining new technologies Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities and initiatives Working knowledge of Salesforce, MS Office, and related tools Ability to work in a rapid-paced downtown Toronto office 4–5 days per week French and/or Spanish is an asset What We Offer A collaborative work environment that encourages ownership and initiative Competitive salary (90-110k (maybe slightly more) + 5-25% bonus) + 4 weeks vacation Comprehensive Health and Dental benefits on Day 1 An opportunity to grow your career and make an impact on a fast-growing #J-18808-Ljbffr
