Learn more at shn.Ca Position Overview Reporting to the Manager of Child and Adolescent Mental Health the applicant’s primary responsibility will be conducting psychosocial assessments and providing individual, family and group therapy to children and adolescents with significant mental health issues.
Requirements Graduate of a recognized Master of Social Work program Membership with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers Minimum 5 years recent experience in Child and Adolescent mental health including experience working in a children’s outpatient mental health clinic In-depth knowledge and expertise in providing therapy with children and adolescents who experience serious mental illness Demonstrated experience with assessment, crisis intervention, and family support with children and adolescents Well-developed skills in conducting psycho-social assessments and case formulation with youth who experience mental health problems Knowledge of community resources and application of the Mental Health Act Demonstrated knowledge of Recovery Model principles and evidence based therapies such as: Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Exposure Response Prevention and Trauma Focussed CBT Experience in developing and facilitating treatment groups Excellent interpersonal communication and documentation skills Proven ability as an effective member of the multi-disciplinary team Demonstrated pattern of valuable attendance Demonstrates an understanding of and commitment to SHN’s comprehensive safety programs and practices including staff safety, patient safety, environmental safety and participates in regular in-service education in this area Demonstrates a commitment to customer service when dealing with patients, colleagues, volunteers and other members of the community and public Accommodation And Diversity Statement Scarborough Health Network (SHN) embraces and celebrates our community’s unique multicultural heritage and diversity.
