Saskatchewan Research Council (SRC) is at the forefront of building the REE industry right here in Saskatchewan and we’re looking for a Senior Field Operator to be part of operating our Rare Earth Processing Facility.

This role is responsible for performing safe, disciplined field operations across the Monazite Processing Unit (MPU), the Solvent Extraction Unit (SXU), and Balance of Plant (BOP), including outdoor utilities and tank farm activities. The Senior Field Operator will be operating local control systems and equipment, handling hazardous chemicals, completing field checks and line‑ups, and supporting startup and shutdown activities. This role will require shift work as the facility functions under 24/7 operations.

Accountabilities





- Rotate between MPU, SXU, and BOP areas, including outdoor utilities and tank farm activities
- Handle hazardous chemicals safely and precisely, following procedures, permits, Safety Data Sheet (SDS) requirements, PPE standards, and site rules
- Operate local control systems and field equipment, including systems such as grinding mills, reagent systems, pumps, valves, transfer systems, and utilities
- Perform field rounds, inspections, equipment checks, line‑ups, sampling support, isolations, starts and stops, transfers, and return‑to‑service activities
- Receive and execute operating instructions from Main Control Room Operators while maintaining clear communication with the Shift Manager and field teams
- Work closely with Shift Material Handlers when activities require coordinated movement, multi‑person execution, or additional field support
- Identify abnormal conditions, safety concerns, leaks, equipment issues, or process deviations and escalates promptly
- Maintain accurate logs, shift handover information, and field records
- Support commissioning, startup, ramp‑up, and continuous improvement

Qualifications

- Minimum of 5 years operational experience in mining processing, chemical processing, utilities, metallurgical,



or equivalent industrial facilities
- Post secondary education in chemistry, automation, instrumentation, process operations, metallurgy, chemical technology, process engineering, or a related field is an asset. A combination of education and experience may be considered
- Experience in hydrometallurgy, leaching, solvent extraction, precipitation, reagent systems, utilities, or tank farm operations and/or experience commissioning, startup, or ramp‑up in a new or expanding plant is an asset
- Power Engineering certification or progress toward certification is a strong asset
- Experience handling hazardous chemicals in an industrial environment
- Ability to work rotating 24/7 shifts is required

Skills

- Strong commitment to safety, with the ability to follow procedures and rules consistently
- Practical problem‑solving skills, sound judgment, and ability to adapt to changing plant conditions
- Mechanically inclined to operate or learn local control systems, field equipment, valves, pumps, transfer systems, and utility equipment

The chosen candidate will also be required to provide an original Criminal Record Check that is satisfactory to SRC prior to the commencement of any employment duties. The Criminal Record Check must have been executed within the preceding 30 days of receipt.
