We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Controls Engineer to join our dynamic Operational Technology team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in control systems design, automation, and programming. This role will involve working closely with cross‑functional teams to develop, implement, and optimize control strategies for the utility‑scale solar sites we manage.

Key Responsibilities

Controls System Design : Collaborate with control room operators, field personnel, engineers and the OT team and electrical, and software engineers to design, develop and optimize control systems for solar sites; Design and modify control architectures, including selection and integration of sensors, actuators, PLCs, RTACs and other hardware components; Develop and implement control algorithms to achieve desired system performance, accuracy, and reliability.

Programming and Implementation : Program and configure PLCs, HMIs, SCADA systems,



and other control devices to execute desired control strategies; Script and implement software for automated control, data acquisition, and real‑time monitoring; Troubleshoot and debug control software to ensure smooth system operation.

Integration and Testing : Integrate control systems with mechanical components, electrical systems, and software applications; Conduct thorough testing and validation of control systems, including simulation and real‑world testing involving control room operators and field personnel to ensure proper functionality and safety.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems Engineering, or a related field is preferred.

4+ years of experience in controls engineering, automation, or a related field.

Proficiency in PLC programming languages (e.g., ladder logic, structured text) and HMI/SCADA systems.

Strong understanding of control system theories, algorithms, and principles.

Experience with industrial communication protocols (e.g., Modbus, DNP3, Ethernet/IP).

Familiarity with hardware components such as sensors, actuators, relays, SEL, GE/Emerson, Red Lion devices.

Ability to troubleshoot complex control system issues and implement effective solutions.
