Position SummaryWage range for Registered Clinical Health Information Management Specialist (CHIMS) – Health Records is $32.77 to $33.83 per hour. Applicants who begin employment prior to obtaining registration with the Canadian Health Information Management Association (CHIMA) will be compensated at the uncertified rate of $30.56 to $31.90 per hour until registration is successfully completed.RequirementsActive member in good standing with the Canadian Health Information Management Association or certification with CHIMA obtained within six months of start date. Preference will be given to fully qualified candidates.Proof of current CPE credits or recent graduate (within last 12 months) and can provide proof of diploma.Knowledge and use of Folio.Knowledge of Medical Staff Rules & Regulations, Public Hospitals Act, Personal Health Information Privacy Act and other pertinent legislation.For internal candidates, disciplinary and attendance records will be considered.DutiesReviews health records quantitatively to ascertain that records meet necessary criteria, and reports errors and/or omissions.Monitors and maintains a system for charts that are past due and reports to Manager and notifies physicians that are delinquent in chart completion.Assembles records for permanent filing.Receives, evaluates and responds to correspondence, telephone requests and in-person inquiries regarding release of health records.Attends at court with the health record,
