Your future starts here.PURPOSE OF THE POSITIONThe Diesel Mechanic Apprentice performs the completion of preventative and scheduled maintenance on locomotives in a fast ‑ paced, safety ‑ focused environment. Working alongside qualified mechanics, the apprentice will complete inspections, repairs, and servicing while developing core technical skills related to diesel engines and mechanical systems.This role is ideal for individuals who are mechanically inclined, eager to learn, and committed to working safely and efficiently. All work must be performed in accordance with company policies, safety procedures, and applicable regulatory standards.This position offers a $10,000 signing bonus for qualified candidates.POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIESMaintain, inspect, service, test and repairs all systems on locomotives, mobile equipment and vehicles used in plant, yard and road serviceDiagnose diesel engine malfunctions and make repairs within regulatory and company guidelinesComplete work in accordance with blueprints, schematic drawings and service manualsEvaluate of parts for reuse, repair or replacementModify and construct mechanical assembliesMaintain of low voltage repairs on locomotive electrical systemsService locomotive cabs which include cleaning cab walls, locomotive toilets, windows and floorsOperate equipment such as overhead or mobile cranes,
