The Lac La Ronge Indian Band in Little Red River Reserve is inviting applications for the following Permanent Full-Time position: Recreation Worker (2).

Responsibilities

- Establish an annual plan of sports, recreation and cultural programs for community in cooperation with band administration. These will be programs and events that can be continued year to year;
- Plan, organize and coordinate the activities as per the annual plan;
- Plan and organize the day-to-day activities of the annually planned programs;
- Ensure event sites are clean, equipped and the schedule and rules are posted;
- Facilitate the delivery of community-based sports and recreation Programs, activities and events for elders, adults, and youth;
- Promote, advertise and communicate sports and recreation programs, community activities and events;
- Prepare event budgets forecasting revenue and expenditure;
- Complete daily, weekly and monthly records and program/event statistics;
- Provide written monthly reports including documenting expenditures and statistics for each planned event;
- Keep track of the event attendance, for the reporting period. Submit quarterly event plan, budget and attendance sheet;
- Participate in regularly scheduled staff meetings and report to Band Administrator;
- Provide select transportation services for athletes requiring it to various events;
- Enforce rules and regulations of facilities in order to maintain discipline and ensure safety for all participants;
- Make requests for new equipment, supplies or services, as they are needed
- Maintain positive public relations on behalf of the Little Red Band Administration;




- Attend and participate in workshops, meetings, seminars and conferences when requested and/or approved by immediate supervisor;
- Carry out such other work-related duties as requested by the immediate supervisor;
- Ensure that activities are advertised posted to community and their success evaluated;
- Ensure that any trips/tryouts are organized and chaperoned as per policy;
- Ensure that all reports for recreation and prevention are completed and submitted on time.

Requirements

- Diploma in Recreation and Community Development, Recreation and Sports Management, Sports Administration or similar;
- Previous experience in the sports and recreation field;
- Program planning experience;
- Strong organizational & time management skills;
- Strong communication, interpersonal and public relations skills;
- Good budgeting and financial management skills;
- Good reading, writing, and communication skills;
- Must have valuable reading, writing, and communication skills;
- Must be able to work flexible hours (including evenings and weekends) as required;
- Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision;
- Must be able to take direction and work with minimal supervision;




- Must be able to provide a high degree of trust and accountability in handling financial transactions;
- Coaching certificate is an asset;
- Valid First Aid/CPR certificate;
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license is required;
- Must be able to provide criminal record check/ vulnerable sector check.
