Under the general supervision of the Manager Health Services, the Clinical Practice Nurse – Registered Nurse (RN) provides professional registered nursing services for patients, including those with complex and unpredictable health needs. These services include independent nursing services, administration of prescribed medical treatments, a leadership role within the health care team, and coordination of patient care and discharge.
The successful applicant will support Peritoneal Dialysis (PD) and will receive a three (3) week orientation to the PD unit.
Experience
- Recent dialysis experience required.
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
- Successful completion of Manitoba Nephrology Nursing Course required.
Certification / Licensure / Registration
- CRNM registration/eligibility for registration required.
- Active participation in qualified associations e.g., Association of Registered Nurses of Manitoba (ARNM) preferred.
Qualifications and Skills
- Bilingualism required (ability to understand and speak English and French).
- Scope of practice as documented in the Regulated Health Professions Act (RHPA).
- Proficiency in French sufficient to sustain varied in-depth conversations with patients and families.
- Current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check, and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment.
Physical Requirements
- Staggered start and finish times for day and evening shifts on this unit:
- Day shifts: 07:30 – 15:45.
- Evening shifts: 11:30 – 23:45.
- Standby on‑call shifts also available.
