Critical Operations Technician

Toronto, ON Full-Time | Shift-Based Operations

As a Critical Operations Technician, you will play a key role in maintaining the reliability, performance, and uptime of critical infrastructure systems that support one of the world's most demanding operational environments.

Key Responsibilities

- Monitor, operate, and maintain critical facility systems including electrical, mechanical, cooling, and life safety infrastructure.
- Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance activities.
- Respond to alarms, incidents, and operational events in accordance with established procedures.
- Support troubleshooting, fault finding, and root cause analysis on facility equipment.
- Assist with switching procedures and equipment isolations under supervision.
- Ensure operational activities are completed safely and in accordance with company policies and industry standards.
- Maintain accurate records, logs, and maintenance documentation.
- Coordinate with vendors, contractors, and internal stakeholders during maintenance and repair activities.
- Participate in shift handovers and communicate operational risks effectively.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives focused on reliability, efficiency, and operational excellence.

Required Qualifications

- Experience working with critical building systems, facilities operations, industrial maintenance,



data centres, power generation, commercial buildings, healthcare facilities, manufacturing plants, or similar environments.
- Basic understanding of electrical distribution systems, UPS systems, generators, HVAC equipment, chilled water systems, or building management systems (BMS).
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, procedures, and operating documentation.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
- Comfortable working in a shift-based operational environment.
- Commitment to safety, compliance, and operational excellence.

Preferred Experience

- Data centre, mission-critical, or critical facilities experience.
- Trade certification, technical diploma, engineering technology qualification, or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience with CMMS, BMS, EPMS, or DCIM platforms.
- Knowledge of preventative maintenance and critical environment operations.
