Key Responsibilities

- Perform skilled labour tasks related to civil construction, including trenching, grading, pipe installation, and backfilling
- Assist with installation of underground utilities (water, sewer, storm systems)
- Set up and use grade stakes, laser levels, and measuring tools
- Work alongside equipment operators during excavation and site preparation
- Install and compact gravel, asphalt, and other materials
- Perform concrete work such as forming, pouring, and finishing (curbs, sidewalks, etc.)
- Direct traffic and ensure protected work zones when required
- Load, unload, and move materials, tools, and equipment
- Conduct site clean-up and maintain a safe, organized work environment
- Identify and report hazards, ensuring compliance with safety regulations
- Follow project plans, drawings, and supervisor instructions

Qualifications

- High school diploma or equivalent
- Proven experience in civil or heavy construction
- Knowledge of underground utility installation and roadwork processes




- Ability to read and interpret basic construction drawings and grade plans
- Valid driver’s license (required; DZ/AZ license is an asset in Ontario)

Skills & Competencies

- Strong understanding of civil construction methods and materials
- Experience with hand tools, power tools, and small equipment (e.g., plate compactors, cut-off saws)
- Ability to work in trenches and around heavy machinery safely, outdoor work in all weather conditions
- Physical strength, stamina, and endurance
- Attention to detail, especially with grading and measurements, Strong safety awareness
- Teamwork and communication skills
- Physically demanding tasks, including lifting, digging, and prolonged standing
- Exposure to heavy equipment, noise, dust, and potentially hazardous conditions
- May require travel to different job sites
