Health Information Management is seeking a Health Information Management Professional to join the Access & Disclosure (A&D) team. The A&D Specialist plays a vital role within the Health Information Management (HIM) department, responsible for processing requests for health information in a manner that ensures accuracy, completeness, and integrity of information released in compliance with the Health Information Act (HIA). The position reports to the A&D Supervisor and is responsible for processing complex patient, complex Health Care Provider (HCP) and third-party requests for health information in alignment with applicable Alberta legislation, organizational policies, and provincial A&D standards. The role requires in-depth knowledge of the HIA, applied with professionalism and sound judgment, to support timely and efficient delivery of A&D services while upholding accuracy and quality. Responsibilities Process requests for health information, ensuring accuracy, completeness and integrity in compliance with the Health Information Act (HIA). Process complex patient, complex Health Care Provider (HCP) and third-party requests for health information in alignment with applicable Alberta legislation, organizational policies and provincial A&D standards. Support the timely and efficient delivery of A&D services, meeting provincial productivity standards while upholding accuracy and quality. Gather, retrieve, collate, code, design, analyze,



interpret clinical and demographic data and perform statistical reporting and data quality reviews for patient records. Qualifications Required: Completion of a diploma from an accredited Health Information Management Professional (HIMP) program. Active or eligible for registration with the Canadian Health Information Management Association (CHIMA). Additional Required Qualifications: Minimum 1 year of experience in an HIM release of information department within a complex health care environment. Proficiency in keyboarding (minimum 45 WPM). Knowledge of Health Information Act demonstrated by achieving a score of 80% or higher on a proficiency assessment. Strong English language skills (reading, writing, comprehension, oral). Proficiency with Connect Care’s Release of Information (ROI) module. Comfortable navigating electronic medical records and clinical systems. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, MS Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Preferred Qualifications: Strong eHealth literacy, secure handling of health information, and experience navigating and interpreting provincial and federal legislation. Organized, analytical, self-motivated, with solid decision-making and time management skills.
