In collaboration with the Manager, Talent Acquisition, this pivotal role will mentor the talent acquisition team to build and execute sourcing strategies and provide white-glove service to the business. This role will also conduct exit interviews, assist with onboarding, be a Talent Acquisition SME, lead projects, and support various Human Resources programs.This job posting is for an existing vacancy.Major ResponsibilitiesStrategic RecruitmentProvide guidance and mentoring to the talent acquisition teamActively attract and qualify permanent, contract and future pipeline candidatesConsult on talent acquisition activities, best practices, candidates sourcing and recruitment strategies that support the goals and direction of the FirmFoster relationships and develop networks of high caliber professionalsDevelop actionable sourcing strategies which enable the attainment of business hiring plans requirementsPartner with hiring managers to understand current and future requirements, including strategic discussion regarding options for filling vacanciesAct as a brand ambassador, building and communicating the firm's employee value propositionLeveraging internal talent sources to drive mobility, employee referrals, and alumni engagementIdentifying, researching and implementing pre-hire assessment toolsProvide back up support to the Manager, Talent Acquisition on recruitment searchesContinually reviewing and improving processes; learning best practicesand integrating within OslerRecruitment CampaignsDeveloping job advertisements and coordinating development of job descriptions in conjunction with the compensation departmentCo-ordinating requisite management approvalsDetermining recruitment and search strategy with hiring managers and guiding them through each phase of the recruitment processScreening candidate applications and providing recommendations and reportsManage relationships with agencies,
and educational institutions as neededCoordinate and manage in-person, MS Teams interviews with candidatesMaking hiring recommendations to hiring managersAdvise leadership and hiring managers on new hiring strategies, market conditions, compensation trends, and talent availabilityEnsure an excellent candidate and hiring manager experience by acting as a trusted advisor Drafting and finalizing offer letters including presentation to candidatesProvide salary recommendations to compensation department for approvalEnsures offer letter and necessary documentation is received and is properly executedCreate employer branding and talent attraction initiativesInternal Transfer/PromotionManage the transfer and promotion process including drafting letters, ensuring necessary paperwork is complete and supporting the hiring managerSupport and advise succession planning strategiesOnboarding/OrientationProvides back up support to the Manager, Talent Acquisition and HR Coordinator for employee onboardingSystem SMEAct as the SME for TA systems (UKG, Testing platforms, backcheck systems, etc.)Assist with researching new vendorsLead process improvements and create best practice guides. Lead trainings to team members, current users, and other stakeholders across all officesTrain talent acquisition team and hiring managers on new workflow processes/functionalityAct as an ambassador for the importance of using the systems effectively for internal data tracking and testing throughout the recruitment process for hiring decisionsUtilizing the applicant tracking system to actively track, manage and report on candidate pipelines to enhance stakeholder communication and ensure effective process managementProject Work and Related DutiesInvolved in research for the drafting/modification of Human Resources policies, procedures and forms and supports any resulting implementation and communication activitiesSupport routine staff relations matters by active listening, gathering information and, conferring with the Senior Manager, Talent ManagementConducts and records exit interviews for Toronto staff,
notifies manager of trends and issuesResponds to inquiries from other offices and provides assistance when requiredStays up-to-date with employment related legislation including those applicable to the on-boarding and hiring processes.Conducts HR training for new managersOther projects as assignedPosition RequirementsEducation and ExperiencePost secondary education in a related business discipline and completion of courses towards a Human Resources certificate/designation with at least five years of related HR experience, ideally, within a large law Firm environment or a professional services organization. An equivalent combination of education, training and experience is acceptableKnowledge and Skills5+ years in Recruitment or Talent AcquisitionDemonstrated knowledge and understanding of talent acquisition and HR principlesDemonstrated ability to build strong relationships including confidential and tactful mannerExperience maintaining and administering an Applicant Tracking SystemExcellent customer service orientation and interpersonal skills; warm, inviting and engagingStrong relationship-building and networking skillsStrong verbal and written communication and active listening skillsKnowledge of all relevant provincial employment acts, such as the Human Rights Code, Employment Standards Act, Pay Equity Act and Employment Equity Act, Osler Employee and Administrative Policy HandbookKnowledge of HR practices and ability to develop procedures related to recruiting, on-boarding and employee relationsProficiency with computers including MS Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPointCompensationThe range of expected compensation for this position is $80,000-$95,000 annually.
