Duncan is a small, vibrant city located about 60 kilometres north of Victoria with 300 shops and services, 5 golf courses, 15 wineries, and world‐class trails. The city represents a welcoming, diverse, creative, environmentally sustainable, and resilient community.Reporting to the Director of Public Works and Engineering, the successful candidate will oversee capital projects, development servicing, asset management, mapping, and direct the work of Engineering Division staff. The candidate will bring a positive attitude, creative approach, and demonstrated knowledge in civil engineering, asset management, and project management, including utility and transportation systems.RequirementsA Degree in Engineering or Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology or other related field.Minimum five years of experience in a municipal engineering field,
with preference given to BC experience; or an equivalent combination of education/training and experience.Membership or eligibility for membership with Engineers and Geoscientists BC or the Applied Science Technologists & Technicians of BC.A strong working knowledge of BC legislation, regulations, and procedures relating to development and subdivision, including works & services and development cost charge bylaws.Ability to strategically coordinate a team of technical staff and contractors.Ability to exercise sound judgement in meetings and dealings with surrounding local governments, First Nations, the Province, and other groups.Ability to effectively engage the public in construction project management.Demonstrated leadership and relationship building skills with the ability to lead a team in a unionized environment.Ability to define problems and solutions, develop research methods, analyze and evaluate data, and prepare comprehensive reports.Knowledge and understanding of designing and developing projects in the public realm for the benefit of the City's residents, businesses, and visitors.Ability to perform all duties under minimal supervision when necessary.Salary & Advantages: This excluded position offers a wage of $97,000 to $112,000 depending on the successful candidate's qualifications and experience.Contact:
