The Director of Stewardship & Finance serves as the operational anchor of the organization’s financial integrity. As a senior member of the management team, you will provide the tactical financial oversight required to steward the resources of Christian schools across Canada. While this role utilizes external consultants and an Outsourced Chief Investment Officer (OCIO) for market decisions, you serve as the internal guardian of compliance. You are responsible for the precise management of cash flows, the accuracy of financial reporting, and the enforcement of the organization’sBiblically Responsible Investing (BRI)mandates. As the sole finance professional on staff initially, this role requires a "hands-on" leader who can seamlessly pivot from high-level strategic counsel at the Board table to the day-to-day execution of bookkeeping and fund transfers.B. Key Responsibilities1. Stewardship of Cash Flow & Fund OperationsManage the daily and monthly cash flow requirements for both the Pension and Health Trust funds, ensuring liquidity is maintained to meet member obligations.Execute the setup of cash transfers and operational payments with precision, treating every transaction as an act of stewardship over funds entrusted to us by Christian educational institutions.Liaise with banking partners to ensure efficient operation of all accounts, maintaining relationships that reflect the organization’s reputation for integrity and prudence.Serve as the primary internal monitor of the investment portfolio, reviewing reports from the OCIO and investment managers to verify strict adherence to organization’sBiblically Responsible Investing (BRI)guidelines.The incumbent must possess the theological literacy to review compliance reports and identify potential conflicts with the organization’s moral standards, holding external vendors accountable to the Board’s spiritual mandates.Collaborate with the Managing Director to review the performance of external vendors, ensuring their service delivery aligns with the values of the Christian non-profit sector.3. Audit & AdministrationManage the full-cycle bookkeeping and financial administration of the organization, ensuring all records are audit-ready and compliant with Canadian accounting standards.Lead the coordination of the annual audit, viewing transparency not merely as a regulatory requirement but as a spiritual imperative to demonstrate faithfulness to our member schools.Prepare financial reports for the Board of Trustees that provide a clear, accurate picture of the plan’s health, enabling the Board to make decisions based on truth and sound data.4. Senior Leadership & Organizational MissionParticipate as a key member of the Senior Management Team, contributing to organizational strategy and the cultivation of a Christ-centered workplace culture.Although this role has no direct reports, the incumbent is expected to model spiritual maturity and leadership, offering biblical wisdom in strategic discussions regarding the future of the plans.Support the Managing Director and Trustees in understanding the financial implications of strategic decisions, always framing advice through the lens of long-term sustainability for the Christian education community.Collaborate with external benefits consultants regarding renewal projections, while taking ownership of the financial execution of the plan (e.G., premium remittances, carrier payments).Monitor the financial performance of the health plan, flagging trends or anomalies to leadership that may impact the affordability of advantages for Christian schools.C. QualificationsTechnical & Professional CompetenciesDesignation:CPA (Chartered Professional Accountant) designation is required.Experience:5+ years of financial experience, with a strong background in full-cycle accounting, cash flow management,



and audit preparation. Experience in the non-profit or pension sector is an asset.Operational Mindset:A willingness to operate as a "department of one," handling both high-level reporting and routine bookkeeping tasks with equal diligence.Vendor Management:Experience acting as a liaison with external professionals (auditors, bankers, investment consultants).Ethical Compliance:Demonstrated ability to understand and enforce the theological nuances of Biblically Responsible Investing (BRI), ensuring external managers respect the organization’s moral boundaries.Senior Leadership Alignment:Ability to participate in the spiritual leadership of the organization (e.G., prayer, strategic discernment) as a member of the executive team.D.
