This is a hands-on, high-impact role for someone who enjoys day-to-day variety and thinking strategically to resolve people issues.ResponsibilitiesPartner with leaders to understand strategic objectives and develop people solutionsDeveloping people policies aligned with collective agreements, legislation, and valuesWorkforce planning and full-cycle recruitment for all roles up to senior-level positionsTrusted advisor to leaders on performance, attendance, conflict, and people leadershipLead employee relations matters – onboarding, joint labour/management meetings, investigations, corrective action, and terminationsSupport workplace health, safety, and wellness initiativesManage leaves, accommodations, and return-to-work processesParticipate in labour relations, including grievances, discipline,
and union discussionsLead organizational talent development and people engagementAnalyze HR metrics to identify trends, identify risks and inform decisionsQualificationsMinimum 5–8 years of progressive HR experience, ideally in a unionized settingBachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, or equivalentCPHR designation is highly preferredComprehensive understanding of provincial and federal employment lawSolid experience with labour relations, grievance handling, and investigationsConfidence coaching and influencing leaders at all levelsAbility to work independently and navigate through grey areasAbility to develop effective relationships with stakeholders at all levelsStrong ability to multitask and adapt to last-minute changesExcellent verbal and written communication skillsThe role requires discretion, political judgement, and a broad understanding of the labour movement in British Columbia.Languages other than English is a desirable skill.Pay range and compensation packageUFCW 1518 values our team’s meaningful contributions and unmatched expertise that are integral to achieving our ambitious goals.
