We are seeking an energetic, practice-based qualified to assume full time responsibilities as a regular ongoing Professor in our Child and Youth Care program.

Duties and responsibilities include

developing, preparing and delivering courses that may span first through fourth year studies in a blended synchronous learning setting that integrates in-person and remote student participation;

designing and evaluating student assignments and other performance measures;

facilitating student integration of theory into practice through classroom, lab and field placement instruction;

attendance at faculty meetings and participation in committee work within the program and the Faculty of Health Sciences and Human Services;

participate in other program initiatives and activities such as advising, recruitment, admissions, program and curriculum development, and facilitative duties within the program area as part of a team-oriented faculty service approach. This position may require travel to a variety of practice settings on Vancouver Island. Candidates must demonstrate commitment to teaching, learning and student success through scholarship and institutional service.

Successful candidates will participate in a wide range of activities outside the classroom, including student support; institutional,



faculty and departmental committee meetings and other initiatives; and professional activities in keeping with their disciplines in and outside the institution.

Required

Qualifications

Master's Degree in Child and Youth Care or a related field; three to five years recent teaching experience at the post-secondary level and seven years practical experience in Child and Youth Care working with children, youth, and/or their families in community based settings.

Knowledge and understanding of Indigenous ways of knowing, respect for cultural teachings, and a demonstrated understanding of Child and Youth Care orientation to practice;

excellent written and verbal communication skills and computer competence.

Must possess a valid Class 5 BC Driver's License and have a confirmed satisfactory driving record.

Preferred

Qualifications

PhD in Child and Youth Care from an appropriately accredited institution (or in progress);

proven administrative and team leadership skills;

the ability to effectively teach and engage students in blended synchronous learning environments;

expertise in instruction at the post-secondary level;

proven research skills.
