QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED AND PREFERRED
Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario in positive standing.
Current Basic Cardiac Life Support
Current CPR – HCP (Health Care Provider)
Demonstrated knowledge of College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) Standards of Practice and commitment to maintaining reflective practice standards as described by the CNO.
Basic knowledge of psychopharmacological interventions and psychiatric disorders within an adolescent population is preferred.
Knowledge of psychopharmacological interventions and psychiatric disorders within an adolescent population.
Experience with adolescent assessment and treatment modalities.
Experience in Eating Disorders is an asset.
Experience in crisis and suicide intervention.
Excellent interpersonal communication and documentation skills.
Evidence of solid professional boundaries.
Demonstrated working knowledge/experience with computers.
Demonstrated ability to work independently and within an inter-professional team environment.
Evidence of sound organizational and prioritization skills with the ability to work well in stressful situations.
Demonstrated excellent organizational, problem-solving, decision-making,
conflict resolution and critical hiking abilities.
Knowledge, experience, and skills in participating in community integration activities with adolescents with psychiatric illness.
Demonstrated ability to provide leadership in such roles as charge nurse, group co-facilitation, and preceptorship.
Ability to provide health teaching to parents/families.
Ability to perform the physical demands of the position.
Proven valuable attendance record with the capability of maintaining this same standard.
Must be able work shifts.
CNA certification in psychiatric/mental health nursing is considered an asset. It is highly encouraged that staff complete the CNA certification in Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing within five years of hire date.
The ability to work with clients of diverse ethno-racial and cultural backgrounds and proficiency in a second language is an asset.
