Role Description The Automation Engineer role is a full-time (In-house/on-site) position based in Mississauga, ON. In this role, the Automation Engineer will design, implement, and optimize automation and control systems for Process and Power industry projects. Day-to-day responsibilities include developing control strategies, configuring and programming PLCs, HMIs, and related devices, and integrating electrical and instrumentation components.
The Automation
Engineer will troubleshoot system issues, perform root-cause analysis, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure solutions meet safety, quality, and regulatory requirements.
The role also involves preparing technical documentation, supporting commissioning activities, and continuously improving system performance and reliability.
Qualifications Strong skills in Automation and Process Control, with experience designing and implementing control systems for industrial applications.
Proficiency in Electrical Engineering principles, including electrical schematics, instrumentation, and control panel design.
Ability to troubleshoot complex automation and control issues, using systematic diagnostic methods and root-cause analysis.
Experience with Robotics or robotic integration in automated systems is highly beneficial.
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation, Mechatronics, or a related engineering discipline.
Hands-on experience with PLCs, HMIs, SCADA systems, and industrial communication protocols.
Familiarity with relevant industry codes, standards, and safety regulations for Process and Power sectors.
Strong analytical, documentation, and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in hybrid and team-based environments.
