Position: Butcher Assistant

A current boutique retail space in Yaletown, Luigi & Sons is a one-stop shop for the best butcher experience in Vancouver, high quality takeaway options, and house-made provisions. An extension of the Elisa Steakhouse family, Luigi & Sons allows guests to bring the very best selections home, including a hand-selected curation of meats sourced from high-grade local and global suppliers.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Butcher Assistant ensures the availability of a wide range of quality well cut meat for customers and contributes to an exceptional customer experience through sharing product knowledge, making recommendations, and offering a personalized service.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Actively engage with customers, cultivating relationships and ensuring customer satisfaction
Order, receive, inspect and store meat upon delivery
Ensuring accurate cutting, grinding and preparing of meats for sale into portions and cooking form
Preparing custom cutting to specific customer needs




Using butcher’s cutlery and powered equipment, and maintaining same
Weighing, packaging, pricing, and displaying product
Managing budgets and tracking inventory
Ensuring adherence to all Food and Safety procedures and to stock control guidelines
Remain current on market trends and competitor activity
Consistently meet sales targets

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience in a meat department, working with equipment and machinery
Experience in technical butchery skills including portion cutting and cleaning and grinding for sausages, burgers, etc.
Robust communication and interpersonal skills
Excellent attention to detail with robust organizational skills and work ethic
Ability to meet the physical demands of the job, including working in a cold/refrigerated environment, lifting 50 Ibs. and standing for extended periods of time
Available to work a flexible scheduling, including weekends

This position will remain open until filled.

Pay: $21.00-$24.00 per hour
