Intermediate Roadway Designer

Brampton, Markham, London or Hamilton, ON.

About the Role

As a member of the Transportation team based in Ontario, you will work on various roadway/highway projects.

Responsibilities

- Prepare preliminary design reports (PDR), design criteria, preliminary and detailed designs for new and rehabilitation of divided highways, arterial regional roads, collector roads, and local roads.
- Prepare preliminary designs for CADD staff and review drawings for compliance with applicable industry and client standards.
- Prepare Contract Specifications, Tender Documents, and Applications for Agency Approvals.
- Review and issue finalized Shop Drawings.
- Coordinate and mentor junior staff within the division.
- Liaise with Clients, Sub-consultants, Contractors and construction supervision staff.
- Assist with preparation of Proposals for future projects.

Qualifications

- Proficiency with MicroStation, OpenRoads, AutoCAD, Civil 3D. Experience with earlier versions of MicroStation and Inroads considered.
- Strong computer software skills with ProjectWise, Word, Excel & MS Project.




- Highly proficient in the use of MTO’s software applications CPS and HiCo.
- Comprehensive knowledge of MTO and Metrolinx standards, including various Municipal & Regional design and drafting standards.
- Skilled in cost estimating, quantity preparation and specification writing.
- Track record of gaining approval of infrastructure designs from MTO, roads authorities and environmental agencies.
- Independent, organized and motivated team player with excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities and deliver projects under stringent schedules in a fast‑paced turnaround setting.
- At least 5-7 years of experience.

Compensation

Salary range: $80,739–$107,026.
