Position Description The primary responsibility of this position is to manage and oversee the customs processing centre.
This role involves supervising the daily activities of all staff, ensuring tasks are completed promptly and accurately, and maintaining compliance with federal and international regulatory laws.
Oversee all customs staff in performing their key duties and responsibilities on a regular basis.
Supervise, train, coach, and lead all Customs employees.
Monitor and distribute workloads evenly among staff, reviewing each quarter and making necessary adjustments.
Handle queries from internal and external customers regarding Customs rules and regulations, and delegate tasks as needed, such as duty rate inquiries from internal customers.
Conduct annual employee reviews and set specific goals for each staff member.
Support departmental growth through mentoring and career development.
Perform various other duties as required.
Experience Minimum of 5 years of managerial experience.
Qualifications In-depth knowledge of relevant regulatory laws, including OGD requirements, Customs valuation, GST/HST application, and import regulations.
Proven team leadership and team-building skills; able to communicate effectively with colleagues, customers, and vendors.
Strong time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks efficiently.
Excellent research and analytical abilities with a keen attention to detail and sound judgment for problem solving.
Outstanding customer service, verbal and written communication skills in English.
Highly organized and self-motivated.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
Education University degree / college diploma in customs brokerage or a related field, or combination or education and experience Customs Certified Specialist (CCS)
