Truett Cathy, founder and Chairman of Chick-fil-A, Inc., started a single restaurant called The Dwarf House in the Atlanta suburb of Hapeville, Georgia.

The Chick-fil-A trademark was patented in 1964, and the first Chick-fil-A restaurant was opened inside the Greenbriar Shopping Center in Atlanta, Georgia in 1967 (this was the beginning of the modern-day food court which is found in almost every mall today).
