Make a difference with Tungasuvvingat Inuit as a Full time Counsellor and Advocate for violence against women in Ottawa. Support Inuit women with culturally specific counselling and advocacy services.
In this role, you will provide community-based counselling and advocacy to Inuit women aged 16 and older affected by abuse. Your efforts will assist in resolving social obstacles, planning for safety, and connecting clients with vital resources. This position requires cultural sensitivity and a commitment to empowering clients in their healing journey.
Key Responsibilities:
• Coordinate program operations aligned with Inuit culture
• Deliver individual and group counselling for clients
• Advocate within criminal and family court systems




• Assist clients with accessing social service resources
• Conduct psychosocial assessments to evaluate client needs
Requirements:
• Post-secondary education in Indigenous studies or related fields
• Minimum of one year experience in a coordinator role
• Robust communication and organizational skills
• Knowledge of Inuit culture and issues
• Fluency in English, Inuktitut an asset
Support Inuit women and their families through compassionate counselling and advocacy in the Ottawa region.
