Post End Date: August 3, 2026 at 11:59 PMThis job advertisement is to fill an existing vacancy in the CUPE4207-1 (Employee Group) MPHA 5P16: Colonization, Reconciliation, and Indigenous Health Compensation Teaching Assistant, Course Coordinator and Lab Demonstrator positions are paid according to the qualifications that the employee holds.

Employees who do NOT hold a 4-year honours degree or a 3-year pass degree will be paid the undergraduate rate - $ hour.

Employees who hold a 4-year honours degree or a 3-year pass degree will be paid the graduate rate - $ hour.

In cases whereadditionalduties are required as part of a Teaching Assistants duties, these hours shall be compensated at theappropriate Teaching

Assistant rate.





Duties The duties and responsibilities of the Teaching Assistant shall be in accordance with Article 22 of the CUPE Local 4207, Unit 1, Collective Agreement.

These are made up of scheduled contact time with students and non-classroom time (including preparation of seminar material, student consultation, marking or grading, examination proctoring, attending lectures, holding office hours, and other course administration as may be required.

Qualifications Applicants must have a graduate degree (Masters or PhD) Indigenous lived experience is preferred (self-identifying as Indigenous and or experience living/working with Indigenous peoples and/or communities Having an educational background in Indigenous studies or Indigenous health would also be an asset.

Understanding of issues related to colonization, reconciliation and Indigenous health is required.

Must have working knowledge, understanding and background experience in Indigenous health and working with First Nations, Inuit and Mtis Communities The successful applicant will be required to engage with Indigenous Elders and other Knowledge Keepers to set up live chats and must be able to do this with courtesy and respect.

Completion of cultural competency or sensitivity training is required.

Excellent communication skills and demonstrated ability to engage with complex issues in a culturally sensitive way Previous teaching or teaching assistance experience in Graduate and/or Undergraduate courses of content related to social models of health preferred.

Experience with an online format ( familiarity with Brightspace)would be an asset
