Operational Leadership: Oversee vessel operations in compliance with Canadian and International legislation, including the ISM Code and Company Safety Management System (SMS).

Command & Safety: Take charge during all incidents and emergencies, ensuring crew safety and reporting per established protocols.

Technical & Administrative: Maintain accurate records (logbooks, incident reports, customs, etc.), monitor machinery status in coordination with the Engineering team, and manage deck and galley inventories.

Team Development: Foster high standards of teamwork, evaluate crew performance, and ensure all personnel are properly trained and oriented.

Compliance: Conduct hazard assessments, manage Environmental Management System (EMS) implementation, and ensure adherence to collective agreements and company policies.

What you must have: Certification:Master 3000 Domestic (or higher) for Escort tugs; Master 500 Domestic (or higher) for Harbour tugs.

Experience:



Minimum 2 years of experience as an officer in charge of the deck on an ASD 60+ Ton Bollard Pull Tug.

Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of the Canada Shipping Act (CSA), COLREGS, CLC Part II, and Maritime Occupational Health and Safety (MOHS) regulations.

Core Competencies: Ability to make critical decisions under pressure, excellent delegation and people management skills, and clear, consistent communication.

Requirement: Candidates must be willing to apply for union membership with the Canadian Merchant Service Guild (Western Branch).
