Description About the Role: We are seeking a Senior Finance Manager who is passionate about using their financial expertise to support meaningful community impact. This role is ideal for a values-driven finance professional who believes strong financial stewardship is essential to delivering sustainable, high-quality services. Reporting to the Executive Director and working closely with the leadership team and Board, the Senior Finance Manager provides leadership and oversight of the organization’s financial operations. You will ensure accountability for public and donor funds, support informed decision-making, and help strengthen the long-term financial health of the organization. What You’ll Do Lead with Purpose Develop and implement financial strategies that support our mission, programs, and long-term sustainability. Provide financial analysis, forecasting, and insights to support strategic and operational decision-making. Advise the Executive Director and Board on financial performance, risks, and opportunities. Ensure financial resources are aligned with program priorities and community impact. Ensure Strong Financial Stewardship Oversee the full cycle of accounting, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and reconciliations. Prepare accurate and timely financial statements, funder reports, and government filings. Ensure compliance with applicable legislation, accounting standards, and funding agreements. Maintain strong internal controls, financial policies, and risk management practices. Manage cash flow and oversee financial investments in accordance with Board-approved policies. Coordinate audits and act as a key contact for funders, auditors, and regulatory bodies. Support People and Collaboration Lead,
coach, and mentor the finance team, fostering a supportive, accountable, and high-performing work environment. Support professional development and continuous improvement within the finance function. Collaborate with program and department leaders to develop and monitor budgets for funded services and departments. Promote financial literacy across the organization by presenting financial information in clear and accessible ways. What You Bring A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA designation preferred). At least five (5) years of progressive financial management experience, ideally in a nonprofit, public sector, or community-based organization. At least five (5) years of experience leading and managing a finance team or department. Strong knowledge of nonprofit accounting, grants and restricted funding, and compliance requirements. Experience working with funders, contribution agreements, and audits. Proficiency with financial systems and Microsoft Office. Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
