If you like a fast-paced environment and a variety of projects, this could be the place for you! POSITION OVERVIEW We are seeking a Volunteer Coordinator, internally known as ''Sections Advisor'' to join our Associationon a part-time basis.
This position reportsto the Manager, Sections & Professional development, and works closely with other Sections Advisors and the Member Services Assistant.
Sections are groups of lawyers organized around legal practice area (e.g.criminal or family law),affinity area (e.g.women lawyers, young lawyers) or workplace (e.g. in-house lawyers, solo and small firm lawyers).
The Sections Advisor works with volunteer members to plan and execute 75-100 Section meetings (professional development and networking events) each year.
Responsibilities include securing speakers, selecting venues, events promotion, and on-sitelogistics.
Theyalso coordinate and provide technical support for in-person, hybrid,and virtual meetings. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Advise and manage volunteersacrossapproximately15-25committees.
Plan, document, promote and implement in-person or virtual professional development meetings and socials for each committee(3-5 events per year, per committee).
Secure venues,determineevent pricing and budget,monitorandtrack costs.
Manage communications: from creating and distributing enticing meeting notices,
to setting up registration pages,and supporting communication between volunteers.
Ensure meetings, events, and correspondence followapplicable policies and operational procedures.
Overseepayment of vendor invoices and volunteer expense reimbursement.
Provide technical support for virtual and hybrid meetings conducted by Zoom.
Provide in office support for in-person professional development meetings; overseeing audio/visualand venuelogisticsfor in-person meetings,conferencesand networking events.
Plan and implement annual processes such as volunteer recruitment, planning, and orientation.
Contribute to ongoing process and service delivery improvements.
Communicate with members via phone and email about CBABC activities,servicesand membership.
Stay informed about branchstrategy,initiatives, and large events to assess relevance to
Sections. EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS Postsecondaryeducation in communications, marketing, project/program management, psychology, business administration, communityengagementor similar field.
Undergraduate degree is an asset.
Minimum 5 years'' experience in meeting planning and executionin a fast-paced environment.
Experience and confidencemanaging volunteers;experience working with professionals, specifically in the legal field, would be a strong asset.
Experience with project management and event planning.
Solid interpersonal skills with individuals and as a team player working in a group setting Strong written communication, attention to detail and proofreading skills.
Highly organized, self-motivated, adaptable, flexible, and able to work well under pressure in a fast-paced,
high-volume environment.
Sound judgment and decision-making ability.
Experience with MS Teams, Excel, Outlook, Copilot, Zoom, Kentico (or similar content management system).
Knowledge of Vimeo, Higher Logic Informz (or similar email marketing software), Camtasia, Adobe Suite an asset.
Highly proficient in using and trouble-shooting equipment such as LCD projectors, microphones, cameras.
Ability tolift upto 35lbs of materials and equipment, sometimes carried upstairs, across or between venues.
Must be able toload/unload vehicles and carts,crouchto plug in equipmentandtape down cords, and beactive for up to 2hours at a time.
Available to work approximately 20% early evenings andoccasional weekends (typically no more than 2 weekends per year).
Training or certification in Indigenous Cultural Awareness and Equity, Diversity & Inclusion is an asset. SALARY RANGE $60,000-$70,000(Full-Time Equivalent.
