Enhance community support as a Housing Retention Worker with Community Development Council Durham. This role focuses on assisting landlords and clients to maintain sustainable housing through various services.
As a full time Housing Retention Worker, you'll actively support the Opening Doors Durham Program, ensuring clients understand their tenant rights and responsibilities. You'll collaborate with Landlord Engagement Specialists to screen housing options, facilitate connections to vital services, and develop vital life skills for clients. Your goal is to foster long-term housing stability for vulnerable populations in the Durham Region.
Key Responsibilities:
• Build relationships using client-centered approaches
• Screen prospective units for safety and legality
• Conduct regular client check-ins for support
• Advocate during tenant-landlord mediation processes
• Maintain confidentiality and client records
Requirements:
• Post-secondary degree in Social Services
• Minimum 2 years experience in housing sector
• Knowledge of Residential Tenancies Act preferred
• Robust communication and advocacy skills
• Flexibility for evening or weekend work
Support clients in sustaining their housing and fostering positive landlord relationships through effective engagement.
