**Job Title: Millwright**
**Job Description**
This role focuses on maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing industrial production and processing equipment in a large manufacturing facility.
You will ensure machinery operates safely and efficiently by performing preventive maintenance, diagnosing mechanical issues, and completing mechanical and welding repairs on a wide range of equipment, including conveyors, pumps, gearboxes, motors, and pneumatic systems.
**Responsibilities**
Ensure reliable operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance on pumps, gearboxes, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and other production machinery.
Observe mechanical devices in operation, listen for irregularities, and use precision measuring and testing instruments to identify the source of mechanical problems.
Dismantle devices using hoists, cranes, hand tools, and power tools to remove defective parts and assess their condition.
Inspect used parts with rules, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments to determine changes in dimensional requirements and suitability for continued use.
Adjust and align functional parts of devices and control instruments using hand tools, levels, and straightedges to restore proper operation.
Fabricate and modify repair parts using machine shop tools, instrumentation, and equipment to support timely maintenance and repair activities.
Clean, lubricate, and adjust parts, equipment, and machinery to maintain optimal performance and extend equipment life.
Cut and weld metal to repair broken components, fabricate recent parts, and assemble or install new equipment as required.
Repair and maintain the operating condition of industrial production and processing machinery and equipment across multiple plant areas.
Assist with planning, updating, and closing maintenance work orders in the Maximo computerized maintenance management system.
Record parts and materials used for each job and initiate orders or requisitions for replacement parts and materials as necessary.
Document repairs and maintenance performed, including findings, actions taken, and parts used, to maintain accurate maintenance records.
Prepare mechanical maintenance reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing maintenance information and trends.
Maintain continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions taken, irregularities observed, and ongoing maintenance needs.
Conserve maintenance resources by using tools, equipment, and supplies efficiently while achieving required job results.
Apply proper lockout/tagout procedures and other safety practices during maintenance activities to ensure a safe working environment.
Comply with all facility procedures, rules, and regulations to maintain a safe and clean work environment.
Support conveyor maintenance activities, including inspection, adjustment, and replacement of belts and chains.
Perform mechanical troubleshooting on equipment and systems to quickly identify root causes and implement effective corrective actions.
**Essential Skills**
Red Seal 433A Millwright License.
Electromechanical college diploma.
Experience working in an industrial environment.
Strong mechanical aptitude with hands-on experience working with mechanical devices and components.
Practical experience with pneumatic controls and systems.
Proficiency in conveyor maintenance, including belts and chains.
Demonstrated ability to perform preventive maintenance on industrial equipment.
Mechanical troubleshooting skills for production and processing machinery.
Ability to perform welding, cutting, and metal fabrication for repair and assembly work.
Knowledge and application of lockout/tagout procedures.
Ability to read and use precision measuring tools such as rules, calipers, and micrometers.
Experience using hand tools, power tools, hoists, and cranes for dismantling and assembling equipment.
Capability to prepare and maintain detailed maintenance records and reports.
Comfort working with industrial production and processing equipment in a heavy manufacturing setting.
**Additional Skills & Qualifications**
Welding and cutting skills for maintenance and fabrication tasks.
Training or certification related to working at heights.
Familiarity with thermal and oxidizer equipment in industrial settings.
Experience with granular crushers and recycling or reprocessing equipment.
Exposure to computerized maintenance management systems, such as Maximo.
Ability to collaborate effectively within a multi-person maintenance team and with external contractors.
Strong communication skills for documenting and sharing maintenance information across shifts.
**Work Environment**
The role is based in a large industrial roofing manufacturing plant characterized by a hot and dusty environment.
The facility is extensive, with four distinct operational areas and a mix of indoor and outdoor work, approximately 40% outside and 60% inside.
You support multiple sections, including a shingle line where belts and chains require frequent replacement, an oxidizer area with older thermal equipment, a crusher area handling granular crushers, and a recycling section that processes old material back into raw production.
The maintenance team consists of a core group of about a dozen maintenance professionals, supported by additional contractors, and includes dedicated supervision for electrical and mechanical maintenance.
Work is organized on a continental 12-hour shift schedule, running 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m., rotating between two weeks of days and two weeks of nights.
Typical patterns include a mix of weekday and weekend shifts across a four-week cycle.
You can expect to use a wide range of tools and equipment, including hoists, cranes, hand and power tools, welding and cutting equipment, and precision measuring instruments, while following site safety procedures, including lockout/tagout and appropriate industrial work attire suitable for a hot, dusty manufacturing environment.
**Job Type & Location**
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Hawkesbury, ON.

The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $45.00/hr.
