About Hemlock Valley Utilities

Hemlock Utility Services provides water, wastewater, and hydroelectric services to the Hemlock Valley and Sasquatch Mountain Resort community. Operating in a remote mountain environment, the utility delivers essential services that support public health, environmental protection, and community growth.

The Opportunity

We are seeking a dependable and mechanically capable individual to support daily utility operations. This is a hands-on role working across water, wastewater, and hydroelectric systems.

This position is best suited for someone who is self-motivated, takes ownership of their work, and is comfortable working independently in a field environment.

Key Responsibilities and Expectations

- Support the daily operation of water, wastewater, and electrical systems
- Complete routine inspections, system checks, and preventative maintenance
- Collect samples and record system data accurately and consistently
- Confirm system conditions through observation and measurement
- Identify, verify, and report system issues or irregular conditions promptly
- Operate equipment such as loaders, excavators, and service vehicles
- Assist with repairs, installations, and general utility and construction work
- Maintain a clean, organized, and secure worksite




- Follow all safety procedures and operational requirements
- Complete assigned tasks fully, including required documentation
- Contribute to all aspects of utility operations as required

Qualifications

- High school diploma; additional training or education is an asset
- Strong mechanical aptitude and willingness to grow in municipal utility operations
- Experience operating equipment is an asset
- Experience in construction, plumbing, or electrical work is an asset
- Basic computer skills (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Valid BC Driver’s License
- Excellent organizational and communication skills

Working Conditions

- Outdoor work in all weather conditions
- Physically active role including lifting and manual work
- Exposure to equipment, construction sites, and treatment facilities
- Participation in a on-call rotation for emergency response
- Strong mechanical aptitude and desire to grow in municipal utility operations
