The ECFNEA’s facilities include the Bernard Constant Community School located on James Smith Cree
Nation (JSCN) and a sub-office in Nipawin, Saskatchewan.

The School
The Bernard Constant Community School is a dynamic Pre-K-Grade 12 school serving approximately
394 students. The Bernard Constant Community School is a dynamic Pre-K-Grade 12 school serving
approximately 394 students enrolled in its Nursery to Grade 12 Programs, with a professional staff of
more than 30 teachers and a full complement of support staff. The focus of the Bernard Constant
Community School (BCCS) is Trauma-sensitive Programming, with a full complement of a Wellness
Team, a comprehensive Cree Language Program for all grades and divisions, along with a Land-
based Learning Program, a Cultural Program, a Sports Academy Program, and a Treaty Essential
Learning Program. Applicants who can speak the Cree Language and can display knowledge of, and
working experience in, the other noted areas will be considered assets.

There are currently no accommodations available within the community. Teachers travel into the
community from local towns and cities such as Melfort and Prince Albert, Saskatchewan.

Position Title - Sports Academy Coordinator’s Duties and Responsibilities
The Coordinator is responsible for the end-to-end planning, implementation, and management of
sporting activities within Bernard Constant Community School (BCCS). The Sports Academy
Coordinator serves as the bridge between the organization’s goals and participants' needs, ensuring
that activities are safe, inclusive, and well-attended.



The position provides overall leadership and
strategic direction for the BCCS athletic program, promotes a culture of sportsmanship, integrity, and
academic excellence, and aligns athletics with the BCCS school’s mission and educational values.
Fostering school spirit and community engagement through sports is another goal of the position.

Required Knowledge, Qualifications and Experience
The successful candidate must possess:

- a Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certificate and a First Aid Certificate would be an

asset;

- possess a Bachelor’s degree or higher qualification in education; and

- possess or be in application of a valid Saskatchewan Teaching Certificate.

The Coordinator should possess strong interpersonal and communication skills, the ability to manage
priorities, and the ability to work with other schools and organizations.

Possessing a valid driver’s license is mandatory.

Program Development
The Sports Academy Coordinator will perform the following tasks:

- align Sports Academy objectives so that they are woven into daily physical education instruction;
- develop seasonal schedules and coordinate league participation;
- ensure compliance with provincial athletic association policies;
- evaluate and improve athletic programming annually;
- fulfill the ECFNEA policy of two voids when necessary;
- oversee all interscholastic athletic teams and extracurricular sports;
- research community needs and design diverse activities such as sports and youth sports camps;

and

- support ECFNEA and BCCS Standard Operating Procedure Documents and keep accurate data

collection.

Staff and Volunteer Management
In the area of Staff and Volunteer Management, the coordinator will recruit volunteers and organize
coach training.

Facility Coordination
The Coordinator will perform the following tasks around Family Coordination:





- coordinate transportation and food for teams;
- ensure gym facilities are secure and clean;
- ensure safety standards and risk management protocols are followed;
- maintain emergency action plans;
- manage bookings;
- oversee maintenance and scheduling of athletic facilities; and
- oversee routine maintenance.

Administrative Tasks
The Coordinator will be responsible for performing the following administrative tasks:

- adhere to health and safety regulations;
- maintain accurate records of athletes, teams, and results at competitive events;
- manage program budgets;
- prepare regular reports for BCCS administration and ECFNEA;
- prepare reports/grant applications; and

- track attendance.

Communication
Communication is an essential part of engaging the community and the Coordinator will endeavour
to:

- build partnerships with local sponsors and organizations;

- communicate schedules, updates, and policies effectively;
- promote activities through social media, newsletters, and local outreach to boost engagement;
- represent the school at league meetings and community events; and
- serve as liaison between school administration, parents, and interagency community

organizations.

Salary and Benefits
Salary/Wages are commensurate with experience. Extended health benefits, vacation or holiday pay,
and personal/sick leave may be available depending on contract terms.
