A leading Canadian food manufacturer is hiring a Health & Safety Specialist. This organization plays a significant role in the food production industry and offers an prospect to drive health and safety excellence in a fast‑paced, hands‑on environment.
The Role
As the Health & Safety Specialist, you’ll serve as a key partner in fostering a solid safety culture through proactive risk management, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement. You’ll work directly on the plant floor to identify hazards, lead investigations, conduct training, and help develop safety programs that protect employees and support organizational goals.
Responsibilities
Ensure compliance with OHS regulations.
Conduct hazard identification, risk assessments, and recommend preventive measures.
Monitor and enforce safety compliance, collaborating with leadership to implement corrective actions.
Lead investigations into incidents and near misses, determine root causes, and oversee corrective action plans.
Maintain safety documentation, including inspections, training records, and incident reports.
Deliver hands‑on training and engage employees on safety best practices.
Qualifications
5+ years of experience in a health and safety role, ideally in manufacturing.
Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety or a related field.
CRSP designation considered a strong asset.
Knowledge of food manufacturing settings is an advantage.
