General Laborer / Machine Operator

Responsible for fabricating, repairing, and preparing pipe components for bundling, operating machinery, maintaining work safety standards, and performing equipment maintenance as part of the fire protection division’s fabrication shop.

Shift Schedule

Day Shift: 5:00 AM - 5:30 PM (12-hour shift); Work days Wednesday – Sunday.

Responsibilities

- Inspect and prepare pipes for bundling, ensuring quality standards are met.
- Fabricate and repair simple components with precision and attention to detail.
- Assist in setting up, maintaining, and running machinery.
- Maintain an understanding of operating procedures for assigned machines.
- Observe and adhere to workplace safety rules and standards.
- Report any safety hazards promptly.
- Maintain an orderly, clean, and safe workplace.
- Perform regular maintenance on equipment and machinery.
- Load and unload products with attention to safety protocols.
- Lift objects weighing up to 50 lbs regularly and participate in team lifts when required.
- Read and interpret paperwork, blueprints, and schematics accurately.
- Utilize a tape measure and basic hand tools with proficiency.
- Follow safety procedures and wear required personal protective equipment.

Qualifications

- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in a fabrication or manufacturing workplace is a plus.
- Basic mathematical knowledge.
- Proficiency using a tape measure and basic hand tools.
- Steel-toed boots and appropriate safety gear.
- Ability to stand, crouch, and lift objects throughout the shift.
- Physical stamina and manual dexterity.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills.




- Flexibility to work overtime and occasional Saturdays as needed.

Physical Requirements

- Frequent standing, walking, and reaching with hands and arms.
- Ability to lift items up to 50 lbs regularly.
- Prolonged periods of standing or sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

Environmental Conditions

- Exposure to moving mechanical parts and outdoor weather conditions.
- Occasional exposure to high, precarious places and vibration.
- Noise level is usually moderate.
