Position Summary

The Technician is responsible for the professional installation, calibration, removal, and servicing of ignition interlock devices (IID). This role plays a key part in ensuring device accuracy, client education, and adherence to Smart Start Canada’s safety and compliance standards. The Technician also supports inventory control, record accuracy, and customer service excellence while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism in all client interactions. This is an entry level position, with on-the-job training & support.

Key Responsibilities

- Install, remove, and perform monitoring and calibration of ignition interlock devices in accordance with company procedures.
- Conduct client training sessions on proper use and maintenance of ignition interlock devices.
- Troubleshoot technical issues, perform off-site services, and retrieve equipment as needed.
- Process client payments accurately and maintain proper documentation of all transactions.
- Support inventory management by tracking, recording, and maintaining equipment and supply levels.
- Ensure all service records, client files, and transactions are completed accurately and securely.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment in compliance with safety standards.




- Demonstrate a high level of professionalism and customer service in all client interactions.
- Protect the confidentiality and integrity of sensitive information at all times.
- Complete mileage and expense reports for authorized off-site services.
- Perform additional duties and tasks as assigned.

Qualifications

Required:

- Entry level position with on-the-job training & support provided
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license (or equivalent).
- Ability to pass and maintain a clean criminal background check.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
- Exceptional attention to detail and organizational ability.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to handle payments and perform accurate record keeping.

Education and Experience

- High school diploma or equivalent required.

Employment Conditions

- Primarily based on-site with occasional off-site travel for service appointments.
- Mileage and eligible expenses reimbursed in accordance with company policy.
- Exposure to automotive shop setting; adherence to all safety protocols required.
