Motorola Solution’s Video Division designs, develops, and manufactures advanced AI, video analytics, network video management software and hardware, surveillance cameras, and access control solutions that help change the way people interact with their security systems
We are seeking a Firmware Developer II to join our development team. In this role, you will work to develop, test, and maintain software for our cutting‑edge video security products. You will participate in the full software development lifecycle, from initial coding to system integration and debugging
Contribute to the development of multi‑threaded software in C++ for high‑speed data processing and networking
Implement software modules based on modern C++ design patterns and established coding standards
Assist in the development and debugging of Linux device drivers and low‑level system components
Identify and resolve software bugs and performance bottlenecks under the supervision of senior staff
Document technical designs, algorithms, and unit tests to ensure long‑term code maintainability
Support the firmware build system using tools like Make, CMake, and Python
Participate in code reviews to learn best practices and ensure high‑quality deliverables
Collaborate with the Quality Assurance team to help define test cases and assist in regression testing
Communicate effectively with team members across different design centers and engineering disciplines

Familiarity with C/C++ compilation and debugging tools (e.g. cmake, GCC, GDB)Exposure to scripting languages (Bash) and version control systems (Git)Strong written and oral communication skillsUnderstanding of operating system concepts, including processes, threads, mutexes, and memory managementExcellent problem-solving skills and a desire to learn complex embedded systemsStrong foundational knowledge of C, C++, and Python programming languagesDegree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical disciplineExperience working with and implementing agentic workflows at scaleA background in or experience with developing video streaming applicationsComfortable using Artificial Intelligence tools like copilot and claude code5+ years of firmware or software development experienceBachelor’s Degree
