About The Role
WestJet is seeking an experienced Intermediate Quality Assurance Analyst to join our IT-Airport Solutions Delivery team. This role is pivotal in ensuring the quality and reliability of our airport systems, supporting the seamless operation of our services. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a high standard of excellence, enjoy tackling complex challenges, and be results-driven. This position requires in-person collaboration up to five days a week, with the possibility of adjustments based on business needs. The successful candidate will work closely with cross-functional teams, including product managers, developers, and stakeholders, to develop, execute, and refine testing strategies that uphold the company's quality standards.

The Intermediate QA Analyst will take ownership of quality tasks related to various projects, products, and systems within WestJet's airport platform. Responsibilities include test case development, test execution, defect management, and automation strategy implementation. The role emphasizes continuous improvement of testing processes, automation initiatives, and fostering a culture of quality within the broader QMO team. Preference will be given to candidates based in Calgary, reflecting our commitment to local talent and community engagement.

Qualifications





Completed post-secondary education in a relevant field

3-5 years of Quality Assurance experience in a technology environment

Proficiency with Azure DevOps Test Plans, pipelines, and release management

Hands-on experience with Agile software development methodologies

Strong understanding of software QA practices across different development models

Proven ability to create clear documentation including test strategies, plans, test cases, and defect reports

Experience scripting and maintaining automated tests using tools such as ReadyAPI, Postman, Selenium, Cypress, or Playwright

Knowledge of automation strategies targeting multiple application layers and testing types

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Strong analytical, problem-solving, and team collaboration skillsExperience with SQL querying in relational databases like Oracle or MS SQL Server

Familiarity with Sabre tools such as Interact is an asset

Experience analyzing and estimating project quality needs, risk mitigation, and reporting

Airline domain experience is preferred but not mandatory

Responsibilities

Collaborate with senior QA, product, engineering, and stakeholder teams to ensure quality deliverables

Maintain a positive and proactive attitude to foster team cohesion and effectiveness

Share knowledge through pairing, documentation, and presentations to empower team members

Stay current with industry best practices by attending workshops, conferences, and reviewing professional publications

Work effectively with Product Managers, Product Owners,



Business Analysts, Developers, and integration partners

Perform various testing types including functional, integration, regression, system, compatibility, performance, security, failover, and recovery testing

Assist in project, release, and sprint planning to develop comprehensive test strategies and plans

Develop and execute detailed test cases aligned with business quality requirements

Identify, script, and utilize appropriate testing techniques, including manual and automated testing approaches

Manage defects through identification, prioritization, logging, tracking, and triaging

Facilitate testing activities within a community development model, promoting continuous improvement

Evaluate testing results, document findings, and communicate effectively with stakeholders to inform project decisions

Other duties as assigned to support the overall quality assurance objectives
