Online Science and English Literature TutorOverview

We are seeking dedicated and experienced Online Science Tutors and English Literature Tutors to provide high-quality virtual instruction to students.

We are currently hiring for two teaching areas:

- Science Tutor — able to teach science courses at Grade 6 level and above
- English Literature Tutor — experienced in teaching high school literature analysis, reading comprehension, and analytical writing

This is a flexible, remote, part-time independent contractor position. Tutors will work with students in one-on-one or small-group online classes. Ideal candidates are passionate about education, communicate clearly, and can guide students to develop strong subject knowledge, critical thinking, and independent learning skills.

Duties

- Conduct engaging one-on-one or small-group lessons through online teaching platforms
- Prepare and deliver lessons based on the assigned curriculum and teaching materials
- Adapt lesson content and teaching strategies to meet each student’s learning level and needs
- Ask effective questions to encourage critical thinking and active participation
- Assess student understanding and provide clear, constructive feedback
- Assign and review homework when required
- Maintain accurate lesson reports, including topics covered, student performance, and areas for improvement
- Communicate professionally with the academic management team regarding student progress
- Create a positive, supportive, and academically focused online learning workplace
- Use digital teaching tools and educational resources effectively

Science Tutor Requirements

- Ability to teach science at Grade 6 level and above
- Strong knowledge of general science, including biology, chemistry, physics, earth science, or environmental science
- Experience teaching middle school or high school science is preferred
- Ability to explain scientific concepts clearly and guide students through scientific reasoning




- Comfortable teaching students from different grade levels and academic backgrounds

English Literature Tutor Requirements

- Experience teaching high school English literature or literary analysis
- Strong knowledge of novels, short stories, poetry, drama, and nonfiction texts
- Ability to teach literary elements, themes, characterization, symbolism, tone, structure, and author’s purpose
- Experience guiding students in close reading, text-based discussion, and analytical essay writing
- Ability to help students support their ideas with evidence from the text
- Familiarity with North American, British, IB, AP, GCSE, or similar literature curricula is an asset

General Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Science, English, Literature, or a related field is preferred
- Previous experience in tutoring, teaching, or classroom instruction
- Strong spoken and written English
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Experience working with children or teenagers
- Reliable internet connection, computer, webcam, and quiet teaching environment
- Proficiency with Zoom or other online communication tools
- Ability to adapt teaching methods to different learning styles
- Professional, dependable, patient, and responsive
- Availability during evenings or weekends is an asset

Compensation

Competitive hourly rate based on qualifications, teaching experience, and subject expertise.

Pay: $35.00-$40.00 per hour
