The Company BQE are hiring a permanent Water Treatment Plant Operator to join our crew at a new client site in Squamish, BC. We develop cutting-edge wastewater treatment solutions for international mining clients, helping them to meet stringent regulations, extract mineral value from waste, and protect water as a shared natural resource - all while encouraging socially responsible operations. The Opportunity Reporting to the Plant Supervisor, your duties will include, but not be limited to:
Working as part of a team of Operators, looking after all operations of the plant - metals removal circuit, reagent circuit, and utility circuit.
Analyzing plant performance, completing daily process reviews, analysis, optimization and troubleshooting, including analytical testing, including pH, ORP, and conductivity.
General plant clean-up and housekeeping.
Identifying and communicating maintenance requirements to supervisory staff
Responsibly, safely, and efficiently carrying out the duties as assigned in alignment with industry best practices, company policies and standard-operating-procedures (SOPs), and site procedures.
Writing, reviewing, and editing technical documentation – you’ll report on operations, write SOPs and maintenance manuals.
Communicating and reporting information regularly to others on site as well as BQE Water colleagues at the head office and visiting from it e.g., process engineers.
Other duties as required by BQE management.




Shift Schedule Working a 10-hour rotating shift; 7 days on, 7 days off (days only). Operators will rotate on-call responsibilities to respond to upset condition at the site during off hours.
Eligibility Requirements Experience in plants, notably during commissioning, startup and process plant operations are all assets – particularly in municipal or water treatment operations settings.
You have the ability to work independently, but also to collaborate comfortably and efficiency when required on shift and during shift handovers.
Excellent communication skills – you can get your message across clearly and tactfully
Strong mechanical aptitude – you’re used to making things work yourself
Basic knowledge of process chemistry (i.e. coagulation, solid/liquid separation).
Self-motivated and results oriented; you take initiative to do what it takes to get things done safely.
You’re resilient and take your responsibilities seriously, while balancing this with rapport building on your team.
A minimum of EOCP level 1 Water Treatment Operator certification
Computer skills including proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook/Teams)
Valid drivers license, fall arrest, WHMIS, first aid, and/or forklift certifications are assets.
