Reporting to the Infrastructure Manager, the Data Centre Administrator is responsible for the day to day operations and support of the data centre environments hosting the ONE HITS services. This is a multifaceted opportunity combining the skills and interest in a wide range of IT competencies including networking, servers, security, virtualization, storage arrays, backup 2 platforms and enterprise applications. This position requires a high degree of direct communication with other internal teams, hospital partners, functional experts, managers, project managers, and vendors. The ideal candidate for this role will have at least five years of IT experience, demonstrating progressive career development. This is a hands on technical position requiring a person who is resourceful, as well as oriented towards achieving business goals through technology. The successful candidate must be experienced in a MEDITECH enterprise environment with proven analytical and technical skills in the latest infrastructure technology and software deployments. This role is fully remote, with very occasional travel for ONE HITS related work within Northern Ontario. Staff are expected to be able to work both independently to meet established objectives and as part of the technical support team. Data Centre administrators will participate in on call rotation to provide coverage after 5 pm and on holidays/weekends.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES Develop, document, maintain, monitor, and trend, as well as respond to issues, and troubleshoot complex infrastructure including analyzing performance, root cause analysis
Perform analysis and create architecture models of application services supporting data center operations and ONE HITS Services
Liaise with 3rd parties to maintain security solutions including firewall, antivirus and intrusion detection systems.
Coordinate between vendors necessary proactive data center operational system monitoring to ensure availability
Work with member sites to ensure consistent and secure connectivity to the ONE HIS. Support and troubleshoot connections between data centers and member sites
Provide ongoing trend analysis for determining current needs, root cause analysis for incident/problem identification and resolution and future resource requirements
Install hardware and software to grow, maintain and upgrade the infrastructure based on identified needs
Respond to system incidents, problems and escalations, prioritize work accordingly, and collaborate and work with other staff and vendor support resources to resolve issues
Verify and validate system backups and recovery, collaborate on business continuity planning
Adhere to ONE Security policies and procedures including procedures for logging, reporting, and statistically monitoring network and system performance and security events.
Perform cyber security audits and continuous security improvements including security updates for servers, network, firewall and devices as defined by ONE Security policies and procedures
Collaborate on and comply with ONE policies and standard operating procedures.
Work with Privacy and Security teams to identify new and emerging cyber risks and prepare recommendations and countermeasures.
Provide guidance to the other members of the ONE team as required; liaison with vendors as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS: College diploma or university degree in Computer Science or related program
Industry certifications and accreditations from vendors such as ITIL, Cisco, VMware, and Microsoft would be an asset
EXPERIENCE Required minimum of 5 years experience in an Information Technology role supporting server, storage,
network and applications in a MEDITECH environment
Demonstrated experience managing network security (i.e. ACLs, Firewalls, VPNs, IPS/IDS System)
Demonstrated experience supporting Enterprise SDN Data Center environments (ie CiscoACI)
Experience supporting Enterprise Storage area network environments and protocols (Fiber Channel, NFS, CIFS) an asset
Demonstrated experience managing Enterprise authentication and directory services (AD, ADFS)
SKILLS & ABILITIES: In-depth knowledge of security and operational best practices related to data center infrastructure and external WAN connectivity.
Ability to manage and maintain large-scale systems and backup administration, storage systems virtualization environments
Manage and maintain hardware underlying a VMware cluster deployment (Cisco UCS, Dell)
Dell EMC SAN administration experience including PowerStore, PowerScale (Isilon), Data Domain
VMware 6.5 - 7.x experience in administration, creation, resource management, VDS, templates & server images
Cisco SAN Switch Fabric – Administration, Zoning, Monitoring & Troubleshooting
Cisco UCS, and Dell server hardware experience
Skilled in troubleshooting and use of performance analysis and tools
Experience working with ITIL framework and principles
Organizational, problem-solving, analytical, and customer service skills
Effective verbal and written communication skills
Occasional travel is required, candidates should have a driver’s license
Ability to use tact and discretion in dealing with sensitive issues and information
Flexibility and availability to address issues outside of regular business hours.
Working Conditions Work from home office setting
37.5 hours per week
This role requires frequent work outside core business hours to complete scheduled maintenance, updates, and security tasks, as well as occasional emergency incident response.
