Support student wellbeing as a Temporary Care and Treatment Education Program and Protected Schools Social Worker with Hastings and Prince Edward District School Board. This role focuses on student advocacy, mental health promotion, and clinical support within educational settings.
This temporary role involves providing essential advocacy and mentorship as part of a multidisciplinary team. The Social Worker will assess the socio-emotional needs of students, implement evidence-informed mental health programs, and collaborate with community agencies for optimal support. Crisis intervention and trauma-informed strategies are key aspects of the position, requiring strong communication and analytical skills.
Key Responsibilities:
• Assess and address socio-emotional and mental health needs
• Implement and adapt mental health programs collaboratively
• Provide trauma-informed support after tragic events
• Manage check-ins and discharge plans for transitioning students
• Lead referrals to community-based services and clinics
Requirements:
• Bachelor of Social Work and Ontario registration
• Minimum 1-year relevant professional experience
• Knowledge of Indigenous cultures and communities
• Crisis intervention training (ASIST or similar)
• Strong analytical and communication skills
