BridgePoint Corp is recruiting an experienced Nurse Practitioner on behalf of a client in Sudbury. This is an excellent opportunity to provide comprehensive primary and mental healthcare while promoting the health and well-being of a diverse university community.

Position Overview
Reporting to the Manager, Health & Wellness Services, the Nurse Practitioner will provide high-quality, patient-centred care focusing on health promotion, disease prevention, mental health, and chronic disease management.

The successful candidate will collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare professionals, advocate for patients, maintain accurate clinical documentation, and ensure compliance with regulatory, privacy, and risk‑management requirements. The Nurse Practitioner will also contribute to the continued development and sustainability of campus health and wellness services.

Key Responsibilities

Primary Care and Clinical Services

Conduct focused and comprehensive health assessments, including complete health histories and physical examinations.

Diagnose health conditions and identify potential health risks using clinical data and evidence-informed practices.

Recognize urgent situations and initiate appropriate medical interventions.

Order and interpret diagnostic investigations.

Communicate assessment findings, diagnoses, prognoses, and treatment options to patients.

Prescribe pharmacotherapy based on patients’ health histories and clinical needs.

Provide medication counselling and evaluate the effectiveness of treatment plans.

Deliver comprehensive primary care that supports the overall health of the university community.

Mental Health and Wellness

Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments and formulate diagnoses using recognized clinical standards, including the DSM-5.

Develop and implement appropriate treatment and wellness plans.

Provide individual and group-based therapeutic support within the position’s professional scope.

Deliver crisis assessment and intervention services.





Collaborate with healthcare professionals to provide coordinated mental healthcare.

Participate in campus outreach initiatives, educational programs, and mental wellness workshops.

Health Promotion and Injury Prevention

Lead and support initiatives designed to improve health and reduce the risk of illness, injury, and clinical complications.

Analyze population health trends and patient data to identify the health needs of the campus community.

Design, implement, and evaluate health‑promotion and wellness programs.

Contribute to departmental policies and strategies supporting the sustainability and continued development of health services.

Clinical Collaboration and Documentation

Consult with and refer patients to appropriate healthcare professionals and community services.

Advocate for patients regarding access to healthcare and appropriate therapeutic interventions.

Promote collaborative, interdisciplinary, and patient-centred care.

Maintain complete, accurate, and confidential electronic health records.

Document assessments, diagnoses, treatment plans, and clinical interventions in accordance with qualified and organizational standards.

Apply effective communication, negotiation, problem-solving, and conflict‑resolution skills.

Comply with applicable legislation, professional standards, privacy requirements, university policies, and collective agreements.

Perform other related duties within the professional scope of the position.

Required Qualifications

Master’s degree in Nursing or a closely related field.

Current registration in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario as a Nurse Practitioner, or demonstrated eligibility to obtain the required registration.

Three to five years of relevant clinical experience.

One to three years of leadership, supervisory, or program coordination experience.





Fluency in both English and French, written and spoken.

Current Standard First Aid, CPR, AED, and defibrillation certification.

Training or certification in crisis intervention and counselling techniques.

Mental Health First Aid certification.SafeTALK, ASIST, or comparable prevention and intervention training.

Critical Incident Stress Management certification.

Demonstrated experience providing primary care and mental health services.

Preferred Qualifications and Training

Membership with the Nurse Practitioners’ Association of Ontario.

National Association for Behavioral Intervention and Threat Assessment training.

Risk Assessment and Threat Management Certification, Levels 1 and 2.

Nonviolent Crisis Intervention training.

WHMIS and AODA training.

Experience working in a university, college, community health, or similarly diverse environment.

Skills and Competencies

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Strong clinical judgment, analytical thinking, and problem‑solving abilities.

Excellent organization, attention to detail, and time‑management skills.

Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced clinical environment.

Strong interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict‑resolution capabilities.

Experience maintaining confidential institutional and clinical records.

Thorough understanding of privacy, information‑security, and records‑retention requirements.

Ability to work independently, exercise initiative, and contribute effectively within an interdisciplinary team.

Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace.

Experience with electronic health records or related clinical information systems.

Familiarity with Ellucian Colleague or another student information or HRIS platform is considered an asset.
