Orchard Recovery Center is looking for a LPN for an Awake Overnight position. We are a small, provincially licensed, CARF accredited alcohol and drug rehabilitation center based on the 12 steps.

The shifts will be 8:30pm to 8:30am (12 hrs) under a compressed work week. These shifts will include statutory holidays. Ferry Fares are reimbursed to employees.

Duties:

- Provide overnight medical care for clients, some who may might be in the early stages of drug and alcohol detoxification
- Dispense medication to clients
- Charting on each client
- Care for clients experiencing acute mental distress as part of the medical team and management team
- Build relationships with clients to encourage trust, while listening to and interpreting their needs and concerns ,discuss the best way to plan and deliver their care as part of the medical team and management team
- Ensure the correct administration of medication, including injections, and monitor the results of treatment
- Respond to distressed clients in a non-threatening manner and attempt to understand the source of distress.
- Apply 'de-escalation' techniques to help people manage their emotions and behaviour.




- Ensure that the legal requirements appropriate to a particular setting or group of clients are observed.
- Assess capacity and obtain informed consent and, where clients lack capacity to consent, have the ability to work within a legal and ethical framework.
- Promote a 'recovery' based approach to care.
- Medication inventory and reporting

Required Skills:

- Ability to work with minimal supervision
- Detail/Task oriented to ensure that all procedures are followed
- Exceptionally reliable
- Care and compassion for clients in early stages of drug and alcohol recovery, whose behavior may exhibit as suicidal ideation, emotional dysregulation, anxiety, paranoia, depression or in physical limitations
- Basic computer skills (Windows, Microsoft Office)
- Graduation from an accredited LPN program is required
- Ability to pass a criminal records check
- Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Training
- Valid AED/CPR Certificate

Additional Skills (beneficial):

- Practical knowledge of a alcohol/drug based 12 step program
- Valid Drivers Licence

Job Types: Part-time, Permanent

Pay: $32.00-$45.00 per hour
