Position Summary:

The Production Worker is responsible for supporting recycling operations through the safe and efficient sorting and processing of recyclable materials. Working in a team-based environment, this role involves manual handling of materials, operating at various points in the process (including sort lines and floor sorting), and contributing to production targets while maintaining a clean and secure work area.

Key Responsibilities:

- Sort recyclable materials (paper, cardboard, plastics, metals) from conveyor belts or floor-level operations into designated bins or chutes.
- Empty already ripped bags of recyclable materials and separate contaminants from acceptable materials. When unripped bags come up the pre-sort line, return it into the bunkers for recirculation. Do not rip bags with your hands.
- Identify and remove non-conforming or hazardous materials from the conveyor. Follow the site process for reporting hazardous materials.
- Perform visual inspections of equipment and work areas and report deficiencies or concerns.
- Maintain a clean and organized workstation following a “clean as you go” approach.
- Follow all safety procedures, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and reporting of hazards, incidents, and injuries immediately.
- Work collaboratively with team members to meet production and quality targets.
- Operate basic tools and equipment such as brooms, rakes, and similar implements as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned that are safe and reasonable within the scope of the role.





Occupational Health & Safety Responsibilities

- Must wear required PPE at all times, including:
- Safety boots (CSA approved)
- Safety vest
- Gloves
- Safety glasses
- Hearing protection
- Adhere to all company safety policies, procedures, and regulations
- Remain alert to surroundings, including moving equipment and vehicles within the facility.

Qualifications & Requirements

- Current Forklift certification is an added bonus
- Ability to perform repetitive manual tasks with attention to detail
- Good hand-eye coordination and ability to follow instructions
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Positive attitude and respectful approach to coworkers and supervisors.

Physical Requirements

- Ability to stand or walk for extended periods (up to two and half hours (2.5) between breaks).
- Frequent bending, twisting, lifting, reaching, and manual handling of materials
- Ability to work in varying temperatures and environmental conditions.

Working Conditions

- Work performed in an industrial recycling facility.
- Exposure to noise, dust, odors, humidity, and varying temperatures.
- Work performed both on elevated platforms and at ground level depending on assignment.

Proximity to moving machinery and vehicles

Pay: From $18.00 per hour
