Job Description:

In accordance with the Vision, Purpose, and Values, and strategic direction of the Vancouver Island Health Authority (Island Health), patient safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone; as such, the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.

Reports to the Manager on all matters relating to clinical informatics strategy, planning and practice as related to Paris software and the RAI tool. The RAI Coordinators function as a clinical resource for Island Health Long-Term Care by carrying out designated assignments such as:

Formally advising/teaching nursing staff, other health care professionals in nursing and clinical practices such as those that utilize various standards-based paper and electronic clinical assessment and documentation tools;

Delivering nursing training/education to staff, including compiling course content and organizing and modifying programs;

Assisting in the development and monitoring of a program or a service in support of resident care such as conducting business systems reviews, participating in developing the electronic health and information records, assisting in developing policies and processes that are fully aligned with those in Island Health IM/IT to support electronic documentation of personal health information, assisting with developing strategies to reduce dependence on paper-based personal health information; and supporting clinicians in the update of electronic health information as related to Paris software and the RAI tool





Assisting with quality improvement projects and working collaboratively with other team members in promoting and adopting best practice models for service delivery.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education, Training And Experience

Registration with BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing RN registrant or a practicing RPN registrant.

Graduation from a recognized nursing program or related health field, supplemented by courses in computer software technology or evidence of an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Five (5) years recent related clinical experience in long-term care or community setting inclusive of experience in teaching or project role, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Valid BC Driver's License.

Skills And Abilities

- Demonstrated knowledge of electronic health information systems such as Paris, Cerner/Vysta or Meditech systems.
- Demonstrated knowledge of a variety of standards-based clinical assessment tools to support practice throughout the continuum of long-term care, hospital and community-based care.
- Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to work effectively within a multi-site setting.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- Demonstrated ability to consult, plan, organize, implement and problem solve.
- Demonstrated ability to educate adults including the development of training materials.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively others.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
- Demonstrated ability to operate related equipment.
- Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
