Castle Mountain Resort

Canada

Overview

Castle Mountain Resort is well known for having some of the best skiing/snowboarding terrain in the Canadian Rockies. To compliment this terrain, and help us open on time, CMR has a state-of-the-art snowmaking system that was installed in 2019 and expanded in 2020. On Haig Mountain, the snowmaking infrastructure extends up Lone Ranger to the top of Huckleberry Chair. At the base of Gravenstafel Mountain, the snowmaking infrastructure encapsulates the base area which includes the Green Chair beginner terrain. From the base area terrain, it carries on up North Road to the top of the meadow. With this system, we have more resiliency to retain snow in these areas during warmer periods during the winter season and into the spring.

As a Snowmaker, you will be no stranger to physical labour and working at night. You will be accountable for carrying out assignments from the Snowmaking & Grooming manager. This includes making quality snow in the highest volumes possible by knowing and understanding the snowmaking process. You must be responsible and knowledgeable of the systems and equipment being operated. This includes the pumphouse, power generators, and the snow producers. We use tracked side by side OHVs to get around the mountain while snowmaking alongside the snowcats in the Grooming department. We provide hands-on training with an attitude of continuous learning of these complex systems. Snowmakers are the keystone in bringing the resort to life, assisting the groomers in building the place where we all love to work and play.
