An established small-animal hospital in Edmonton, AB is seeking a Veterinarian for a full-time position, offering a salary up to $170,000. This is an opportunity to deliver high-quality care within a cooperative, well-resourced environment.

The Hospital
This full-service companion animal hospital serves a South Edmonton community with a strong reputation for client communication and compassionate care. The team-based culture pairs veterinarians with experienced support staff to ensure smooth workflow and excellent patient outcomes. The hospital offers a broad mix of services, including wellness care, dentistry, general surgery, diagnostics, endoscopy, laser therapy, nutrition counseling, pharmacy services, and basic hospitalization. Clinicians are supported by onsite diagnostic tools such as an in-house laboratory and routine radiology, along with established anesthesia, multimodal pain management, and an isolation ward with infection-control protocols. Digital tools, including online appointment booking, a client portal, and online payment options, help streamline communication and case management. Regular weekday daytime hours support work-life balance.

The Role

Full-time position to provide maternity leave coverage with the potential for a long-term role

Deliver comprehensive small-animal care, including wellness and preventive medicine, vaccinations, parasite prevention, nutrition guidance, and senior pet management

Perform routine soft-tissue surgeries and anesthesia; experienced candidates may undertake more advanced procedures

Provide dental care, including comprehensive oral exams, professional cleanings, and dental radiographs; experienced clinicians may perform extractions and advanced dental treatments

Utilize in-house laboratory and radiology for efficient diagnostics; access additional modalities such as endoscopy and laser therapy

Triage and manage urgent cases during clinic hours

Maintain accurate medical records and uphold hospital protocols and patient safety standards

Build trusted client relationships through clear communication and compassionate care

Collaborate with a cohesive support team; opportunities to mentor and contribute to clinical quality initiatives

Requirements

Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM or equivalent)

License to practice, or eligibility for licensure, with the Alberta Veterinary Medical Association

Eligibility to work in Canada

Competence in routine surgeries and dentistry; commitment to evidence-based medicine, patient safety, and client service

Strong teamwork and communication skills; comfort with digital medical records and client tools
