Position: Arena Operator - Full time and part time positions available. Various shifts including weekend days and evenings.

Maples Multiplex Arena is located in the heart of North-West Winnipeg. We are currently seeking Arena Operators to fill Full Time, Part Time, and Casual positions. Maples Recreation Association Inc. consists of a full-sized indoor arena with dressing rooms and a canteen. We also have our community center located next door which hosts a seasonal outdoor rink each year.

Ice maintenance experience is an asset but not a requirement. Specific qualifications and essential skills are as outlined below.
POSITION OVERVIEW
The Arena Operator is primarily responsible for the maintenance of the ice surfaces, monitoring the ice plant and routine inspection of the facility and grounds, light housekeeping duties such as cleaning dressing rooms, sweeping stands etc.
Specific Responsibilities include:
▪ Open and close facility as required.
▪ Maintain and flood the ice surface for all bookings during the shift.
▪ Daily maintenance of ice equipment and Zamboni as required.
▪ Record data and monitor ice plant and boiler room per Manitoba Labour Board standards.
▪ Change or assist in arena glass changes as needed.
▪ Rink glass cleaning as required.
▪ Create and work in a “Safe Work” environment
▪ Assist custodial employees as time allows and ensure that the facility is left clean at the end of the shift.
▪ Assist with event set up and take down as required when time allows.

▪ Organizational skills – Excellent time management skills; ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a changing environment.

▪ Problem Solving – Ability to anticipate and resolve problems. Must be efficient at working with little to no supervision.
Qualifications:
▪ Valid Power Engineer’s Certificate Class (W) or the equivalent Power Engineer Level 4 or better is required.
▪ Valid Class 5 Driver’s License
▪ First Aid/CPR/AED and WHIMIS training is required and will be provided if needed
▪ Previous experience in arena ice maintenance will be considered a definite asset.
